Major Projects and Current Status:
1) Provide transportation to/from island
2) Replace 2 footbridges
3) Construct new bridge to beach area
4) Setup environment friendly kayak, canoe, boat and bike rental service
5) Build an island boathouse
6) Establish plant, wildlife and fish habitat studies and protection programs with U of W and other institutions - species
reintroduction and reforestation projects
7) Build a mainland boathouse
8) Expand Shanfield Shores Park - purchase adjacent property - duplicate Peche Island Ecosystem on the mainland with
a large pond and similar plant/animal life and possibly a butterfly conservatory
9) construct a monument in Shanfield Shores Park of Henry Shanfield (Bronzed likeness riding his bicycle)
10) Implement an ongoing volunteer program for island maintenance and cleanup
11) Develop and implement an island anti-erosion program
